Well, we had our 18 week ultrasound last week. We had the option of finding out what sex this baby is, but we want it to be a surprise on it's birthday! He/She is even waving to you in this u/s picture! We're going to get the 4D ultrasound picture after we get back from Hawaii in Jan. I'll post more pictures then!

We sold our house!!!

So we finally sold, actually gave away :), our house! Yep, took a 35% hit, but hey, it's worth getting a new one before the baby comes! So, we are busy packing and Jack gets to carry all the boxes since I don't want to lift them ;) He's so great! Max had fun too :)

We went for our 18 week ultrasound on Monday. What a little miracle! We can't believe how much he/she has grown since we first saw him/her at our 8 week u/s. Everything was perfect and he/she even measured a week further than we thought. Since Jack and I were both 10 lb. babies, I'm in trouble unless this thing comes early!!! We don't want to know the sex until he/she is born, but for conversation sake, since I swear I saw a "hamburger" vs. a "turtle", I'm calling it a she!!! (I'm really not a professional ultrasound tech though, so don't count on me being right :)

Alright girls, here you go.... 15 weeks and way more "chubby" fat than pregnant fat...

Anesthesia conference in Atlanta

We went to Atlanta in the beginning of October for an anesthesia conference and to visit our friends Andrew and Megan. What a great time! Besides being the designated driver and taking advantage of happy hour at the Embassay Suites, we spent time at the aquarium, olympic park, CNN studio, and touring Atlanta. Thanks Megan and Andrew for a great time!

Visiting my dad in Las Vegas/ Red Rock Canyon

Jack and I went to visit my dad in Las Vegas Oct. 17th weekend. We had a blast! We didn't gamble much, but really enjoyed visiting with my dad and enjoying the outdoors and fine restaurants. The best adventure of the weekend was for sure the Jimmy Buffet concert. What GREAT seats and unforgettable concert!!!! Thanks Dad!

Laura's Bachelorette party/ wedding

What a beautiful Bride-to-be and Bride! Laura's bachelorette party was in Grand Rapids. We first went to the piano bar and then ended up at some dance club downtown. We had a ton of fun and got to meet all of Laura's friends from Grand Rapids. What a night!
To tell you how small this world is, I ran into a college (NIU) swimming teammate who is from England! She happened to be at a friend's wedding in downtown Grand Rapids at the same time as Laura's party. I couldn't believe it! Nice seeing you Erika!

Larua's wedding was at her church in Troy and then the reception was at Crank's- a beautiful white tent in Stoney Creek Park. The weather was PERFECT... 75 and sunny all day! Congratulations Laura and Herbie!

Frankenmuth

The annual Frankenmuth car show was the weekend after Labor day. Since it was still too early, we didn't want to tell our parents about our good news quite yet. So, after faking drinking beer all weekend and drinking Coors N/A (non alcolol), we got through the weekend without them even having a clue! What a great time! We stayed over night and partied with Julie and Ed, Julie and Rich, Joe and Lauren, Dick and Marsha, Cindy and Todd, and Jack's parents. What fun!

The baby has a heart beat!!

Jack and I went to my OB for our first ultrasound. The u/s tech found the heart beating strong right away! It looks like a little gummy bear, but believe me... this little sucker is making me eat constantly! I feel great as long as I eat every 2 hours or so. Oh, and I stopped running all together so the combination is making me fat fast! This u/s picture is when it is 9 weeks old and only 2 cm long!

Newport Beach/ Napa Valley!

Jack and I went to Newport Beach and Napa Valley for 2 weeks in August. It was awesome to stay with my dad in Newport and walk to Balboa Island! He is that close! We had a blast- stayed very busy during the day and partied every night. We also went to Catelina Island for a day and drove a golf cart around. Our favorite place there of all the places we went was Billies. What a great time! Thanks Dad! Then we drove the coast up to Napa (I thought it would take 5 hours, but we got there 12 hours later...) We could smell and see where the fires were. We got to Napa and toured and tasted wine for the next 6 days....another great time! The day we got home from Napa I finally realized that I was "late", took 6 pregnancy tests and every single one of them came back positive. Jack was convinced I was playing a joke on him until he heard and saw the heart beating at the doctor's office! I was already 6 weeks!

August, 2008

So...we still haven't sold our house yet. Isn't there ANYONE out there that wants a cute, clean, cheap house? :)

Jack and I have been busy working. We just may buy a new house before selling this one...the market is just too good! Other than that, we are busy every weekend from partying at the cottage to being busy around here to traveling all over. The summer is flying by!

Our 2 year anniversary is coming up (Aug. 19th) and we're taking a trip from Newport Beach, CA to Napa and Sonoma Valley. I'll send pics when we get back!

Hope everyone is doing well- hope to hear from you all soon!

Max is recovering!

Hi guys! Max is home and doing very well now. He did have some bad nights the first 4 days after surgery when he cried all night and tossed and turned as we slept with him on the floor (and stayed awake with him). We finally got smart and went the the vet for some sedating meds so that we ALL could get some sleep and it worked! Max only limps when he has been standing or walking for a long time. It has already been 2 weeks and he is getting his spunk back! We are so grateful for his speedy recovery!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms! Today we had brunch with Jack's family. Thanks for meeting us for brunch mom, dad, Joe, Phil, Jamie, Angelo (the cute baby on the end), Marsha and Larry. We had so much fun and the food was great! Tonight we're going to my mom's house for more food and fun! Christy, Dan, and the 3 boys will be there too, so there will be lots of entertainment!

The Nelson Family Blog

Hey guys! Thanks for checking out our blog. We're trying something new to keep our friends and family up to date on what is going on with our family. We feel like there is never enough time to sit and catch up on things, so this is a way to show you pictures (especially of our golden retriever baby Max) and to add things that are going on in our lives. So, bear with me as I try to make this fun and creative! ;)

This is our home. It is currently for sale if you know anyone who wants to live in Chesterfield, MI! We'll give you a great deal! ;)

This is our baby Max, who just turned one. He is a 90# golden retriver who thinks he is a lap dog! He is so cute- knows lots of tricks and commands, yet plays dumb sometimes to get out of doing stuff. Next week he has to have knee surgery so keep him in your prayers please.

We just got back from Sarasota, FL. We went with Annie's side of the family and had a ton of fun! The kids helped us stay out of trouble :) What a blast! Thanks dad! More pictures to come-not sure why, but I am unable to upload additional pictures at this time.
